Norma L. Holden passed away Saturday April 5, 2014 in Sedona, Arizona. Norma was born on September 3, 1936 in Ashland Kentucky and raised in Kentucky and West Virginia. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1954, studied at West Virginia University, then moved to Cleveland Ohio. Norma studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art for 6 years in the sixties while raising 5 children. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1975 at the College of Wooster, Phi Beta Kappa.

Normas passions were art, hiking and travel. Norma was a venerated local artist who painted Arizona landscapes for over three decades. She moved to Arizona in 1983 and worked in training and graphic design at Intel from 1984 until her retirement in 2001. She became an avid hiker and backpacker and passionately connected with the Southwestern, Mexican and Pacific mountains, deserts and oceans. Norma has exhibited her work in many Sedona galleries, with recent shows at the Sedona Art Center, Village Gallery and Pop-Up Sedona.

Norma was the youngest child of Frances Oney Litteral and Norman Litteral and was predeceased by her parents, sister June Finup and brother Gerald Litteral. Norma is survived by five children: Charles Holden (Regina Heiser), Jocelyn Johnson (Dick), Kathryn Holden (Robert Leventry), Curtis Holden and Jennifer Holden. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jonathan Holden, Caroline Holden, Katie Holden, Stephen Holden, Erin Leventry and Jacqueline Spiropolous. Recently Norma was blessed with her first great-grandchild Hannah Felicity Holden.

Services will be held Friday April 11, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at The Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Drive, Sedona, Arizona 86336. The family suggests donations in her memory to the following charities: Verde Valley Sanctuary, Sedona Arts Center, or Northern Arizona Hospice.
