Michael John Proulx

October 12, 1948 — January 6, 2015

Michael John Proulx died peacefully at his Sedona home in the presence of his beloved family on January 6, 2015. Mikes life was celebrated on Saturday, January 10 at St John Vianney Catholic Church Sedona, Arizona. Mike was born on October 12, 1948 in Stillwater, Minnesota to George and Irene Proulx. His family moved to Arizona in 1961 where he met his high school sweetheart, Germaine Peters, whom he married in 1969. Mike spent 42 years with the Bashas Family of Stores starting as a bag boy in 1966, moving to Sedona to open a new store, and becoming President and Chief Operating Officer. Mike and Germaine loved the Californian vineyards and oceans, and they next spent several spring semesters living in the Los Angeles area where he became a professor of Food Industry Management at the University of Southern California until 2013. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Mike is remembered for being a loving husband, father and brother. He was a friend, mentor and colleague known to many for his integrity, honesty, and work ethic. His memory lives on with his wife Germaine, his daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Zach, his son Michael and daughter-in-law Alexandra, and two granddaughters Isabella and Helena. He is also survived by three brothers, three sisters, and a treasured extended family. Mike always said that every day was a gift, and he will be remembered for his smile and gratitude. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the City of Hope and cancer research.
