John Paul Scott, Jr.

December 13, 1940 — September 21, 2022

John "Johnny" Paul Scott, Jr., 81, passed away on September 21, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. John was born on December 13, 1940 in Jerome, Arizona to John Paul Scott, Sr. and Genevieve D'Arcy Scott. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sister Janet (Scott) Moore. He is survived by his sister Mary Jeanne "Jeanne" (Scott) Grove.


John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty", his children Kathleen, John, III ((Diane, Carl Kelleher, Katherine Heim (Kirk, Freyja, Connor)), Janet (Shawn), and Robin; grandchildren Christopher Scott (Maggie), Alan Brady, D'Arcy Jana, Dominick Chavez (Jacey) and Tristan Chavez (Kara, Lev); great-grandchildren Lincoln and Oaklyn, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and "Gigi," his fur baby.


John retired as an Official-Power Planner for Locomotives and previously as an Engineer, after 34 years of service with the BN&SF Railroad. Raised in Winslow, Arizona, he graduated from Winslow High School in 1959 and the San Francisco School of Mortuary Science in 1963. In 1975-76, John earned his FAA Private Pilot Certification. He had a lifelong love for golf, flyfishing, camping, backpacking/hiking, sailing, skiing, photography, history and telling funny stories, all most especially when sharing these times with his family.


Funeral services will be held on November 5, 2022 at  Noon at the Greer's Mortuary of Sedona Chapel in Sedona, Arizona followed by internment at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona.
