Gary Rex Dawson, 71, died Tuesday July 12 in Sedona, AZ. Gary was owner and operator of the Rose Tree Inn in Sedona for many years.
Gary was born Sep. 15, 1944 in Peoria, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father Harry J. Dawson, Sr., and his mother Olga Seiler Dawson.
Also, an older brother and sister-in-law Harry J.(Pearl)Dawson, Jr.,
and a half-sister Dorothy Brady(Maurice)Barnhart.

Survivors include brother Phillip W.(Janice)Dawson of East Peoria, IL; nephew Bruce(Marianne)Dawson of Mokena, IL;
niece Linda(Jim)Roots of Gurnee, IL; nephew Craig(Angela)Dawson of Peoria, IL and nephew Chad Dawson of Metamora, IL.

Gary graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1966 with a B.S. in Psychology. He remained active in alumni functions.

Gary traveled around the U.S. working many jobs until he fell in love with Sedona and settled there.

Gary was an avid reader, political junkie, and a friend to many.

Greer's Mortuary in Sedona, AZ will perform cremation rites.
