Dorothy (Dotte) Collett Vande Linde

September 26, 1924 — March 6, 2024

Dorothy (Dotte) Collett Vande Linde of Sedona AZ passed away Wednesday March 6, 2024. She was born in Morgantown WV on September 26, 1924 to Dorothy Atwood Collett and Dr. Armand Rene Collett. She graduated from Morgantown High School and earned her degree in chemistry in 1945 from West Virginia University, where her father was a chemistry professor and later the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. After marrying and moving to the Charleston WV area, Dorothy worked as a chemist while raising her four children. She was very active in her PEO sisterhood promoting continuing education for women and served on the state board for seven years and as WV state president for one year.

After retiring Dorothy moved to Sedona in 1994 to assist her oldest son, Armand (Joe), who opened Armand’s Espresso Bar in Tlaquepaque. Armand died in a motorcycle accident three years later, but by then Dorothy had fallen in love with Sedona and decided to stay. She kept active in her local PEO chapter, in Christ Lutheran Church of Sedona, and served for many years on the board of the Big Park Domestic Wastewater Improvement District. Dorothy was a voracious reader and volunteered at the Sedona Public Library where she later became an employee, serving as the first librarian/manager of the Sedona Public Library Village of Oak Creek center. She retired from that position in 2010 at the age of 86. Dorothy spent her final years at Sedona Winds Independent Living where she was very happy reading and participating in the many activities available to the residents.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Susie) Farudi and Wanda Mouser, her son David Vande Linde, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 6 at 10:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 25 Chapel Road, Sedona AZ. A video of the service will be available on the home page of the church's website at christsedona.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dorothy’s honor to:
