Daniel Charles Holcomb

March 26, 1942 — September 30, 2025

Sedona

Daniel Charles Holcomb, 83, of Sedona, Arizona, died peacefully at his home on Sept. 30, 2025. He is survived by his wife Paula, sons, Michael and his wife Suzanne, Christian and his wife Meagan, his stepsons, Mark McLean and his wife Alissa, and Lachlan McLean and his wife Carolyn, and seven grandchildren.

Daniel was born on March 26, 1942, in the mountain town of Elkin, North Carolina. He studied electrical engineering at North Carolina State University and went on to become an electrical engineer, starting his own successful air compressor equipment business in Wilson, NC. He and his wife Paula moved from Wilson to Sedona, AZ, where they lived together for 18 years before he passed away from cancer.

Dan had a love of learning, a sense of adventure, deep curiosity about life, and was a man of many talents. He would often say, “How in the world are you?" in his inimitable drawl, which will be greatly missed. He loved to fix things, dove into duplicate bridge, and explored graphic arts and watercolor, often inspired by his travels. He and Paula traveled the world together, and he soaked up local culture with insatiable curiosity. He learned Spanish while visiting countries like Colombia and Ecuador. They also traveled to Africa on safari, to the Greek islands, Mexico, and Costa Rica, where they often partook in local art and language classes. A longtime tennis aficionado, he and Paula traveled to major tennis tournaments, and also competed in tournaments in Arizona and North Carolina. Dan was a lively, sociable and fun-loving guy with a wide circle of friends who loved and respected him.
